Special Events and Activities
The Seminar Committee is currently looking for a chair to plan the Spring and Fall seminars in 2016. If you can help out with planning or organizing and would like to volunteer on the committee, we could use your help! Sign up, or contact SGSEducation@gmail.com for more information.
SGS Desk Volunteers work at the library desk, assist patrons, collect membership dues, give tours, etc. We particularly need volunteers on Saturdays and Sundays, but could use additional help on all days. Schedule sign-up is flexible - volunteer monthly, weekly, or just fill in when needed. Training will be provided. Please contact SGSVolunteers@gmail.com if you would like more information.
Projects and Committees
The Library Committee adds books to the SGS Library catalog and labels them to add to the shelves. Please contact SGSLibrary@gmail.com for questions of more information.
The Archive Committee meets every Thursday, 10:00am-3:00pm. This committee reviews donated research and materials for inclusion in the SGS Library. Please contact SGSLibrary@gmail.com for questions of more information.
This committee will work to plan SGS's future (ie., moving facilities, reorganizing space, etc.). We especially need people who have had to do long-range planning in the past, such as department heads, business owners, program directors, etc. This committee will meet in the evenings, but right now there is no set meeting day/time.
The publications committee works with the Director of Publications to edit, print and mail the SGS news letters and Bulletins. We especially need people who can help with the printing and mailing aspect. Help will be needed 6x/year (two bulletins, four newsletters) at publication times.
This committee will work to develop an automatic publicity schedule for routine events (seminars, open houses, etc.) as well as work on a plan to increase community awareness and membership at SGS. Anyone who has been involved in publicity campaigns would be a great help. There is no set meeting time for this committee yet.
The Seattle 1890 Project is looking for volunteers to help in transcription or records. The committee meets the second Wednesday of each month from 2:00pm-3:30pm for planning, but most work can be done at home. Please contact Chuck Richards at csrichards@msn.com.
